جَهَشَ إِلَيْهِ, (Ṣ, Ḳ,) and جَهِشَ, (Ḳ,) which latter, accord. to IDrd, is the more common, (TA,) aor. ـَ {يَجْهَشُ}, inf. n. جَهْشٌ (Ṣ, Ḳ) and جُهُوشٌ and جَهَشَانٌ, (Ḳ,) He betook himself to him by reason of fright or fear, seeking protection, and being about, or ready, to weep; like as the child betakes himself to his mother by reason of fright or fear, (Aṣ, Ṣ, Ḳ,) and to his father, (Aṣ,) being about, or ready, to weep; (Aṣ, Ṣ;) as alsoأَجْهَشَ↓. (AO, Ṣ, Ḳ.)

جَهَشَتْ نَفْسُهُ, (Ṣ, A,) or جَهَشَتْ إِلَيْهِ نَفْسُهُ, inf. n. جُهُوشٌ; (TA;) andأَجْهَشَتْ↓; (Ṣ, A, TA;) His soul heaved, (Ṣ, A,) and he was about, or ready, to weep: (A:) or his soul heaved, and quitted him. (TA.)

جَهَشَ لِلشَّوْقِ وَالحُزْنِ He was ready, or about, to desire, and to mourn: (IDrd:) andأَجْهَشَ↓ بِالبُكَآءِ He was ready, or about, to weep. (El-Umawee, Ḳ.)

جَهَشَ مِنَ الشَّىةءِ, (AA, Ḳ,) and جَهِشَ, (Ḳ,) aor. ـَ {يَجْهَشُ}, inf. n. جَهَشَانٌ, (AA, Ḳ,) He was frightened at the thing, or afraid of it: (AA, Ḳ:) or he fled from the thing.. (Ṣgh, Ḳ.)

جَهْشَةٌ

جَهْشَةٌ A flow of tears (A, Ḳ, TA) falling one after another on the occasion of جَهْش [or the betaking oneself to another by reason of fright or fear,, &c.]. (TA.)
