قَتَلَ الشَّىْءَ, inf. n. قَتْلٌ, † He knew the thing; he was, or became, acquainted with it: (Mṣb:) [or rather, i. q.] قَتَلَهُ عِلْمًا, (Bḍ in iv. 156, and TA,) and خُبْرًا, (Ḳ,) and بِعِلْمِهِ, (Bḍ, ubi supra,) he knew it (Bḍ, Ḳ, TA) completely, (TA,) or thoroughly, very well, or superlatively well; as also نَحَرَهُ عِلْمًا. (Bḍ.) See أَثْبَتَ الشَّىْء مَعْرِفَةً in art. ثبت.

3. ⇒ قاتل

قَاتَلَهُ He fought, or combated, him; contended with him in fight or conflict or battle. قَاتَلَ عَلَى دِيِن ٱللّٰهِ: see 3 in art. ازى.


5. ⇒ تقتّل

تَقَتَّلَتْ لَهُ means تَخَضَّعَتْ لَهُ وَتَذَلَّلَتْ حَتَّى عَشِقَهَا. (A.)


10. ⇒ استقتل

اِسْتَقْتَلَ [properly He sought, or courted, slaughter;] i. q. اِسْتَمَاتَ; (Ṣ, Ḳ;) meaning he cared not for death, by reason of his courage; (JM;) he resigned and subjected himself to slaughter, and cared not for death. (Mgh.)


قَتْلٌ

قَتْلٌ: from this word is formed the pl. قُتُولٌ, on the authority of hearsay. (El-Jurjánee, in Mṣb, art. قصد.)


قَتَّالٌ

قَتَّالٌ [Murderous; slaughterous; very deadly.] You say حَيَّةٌ قَتَّالَهٌ [A very deadly serpent]. (TA in art. اصل.)


قَاتِلٌ

قَاتِلٌ Deadly; applied to a tree; (Ḳ in art. خمط;) and to poison. (TA in that art.)


مَقْتَلٌ

مَقْتَلٌ A [vital] place in a man [or an animal, i. e.] where a wound causes death; (Ṣ, Mṣb;) as the temple: (Mṣb:) pl. مَقَاتِلُ. (Ṣ.)


مَقَاتِلَكَ

وَلِنِّى مَقَاتِلَكَ means حَوِّلْ إِلَىَّ وَجْهَكَ. (A.)


مُسْتَقْتِلٌ

مُسْتَقْتِلٌ: see مُسْتَمِيتٌ.
